From London to Accra: The Journey of a Little Blue Tractor and a Big Vision

In the year of our 50th Anniversary, Premier Plant Hire embarked on more than just a celebration, we took the first bold step in expanding our trusted services beyond the UK, reaching across continents to Ghana.

The Beginning: A Partnership with Purpose

This story began with a shared vision between Paul Kuebler, Managing Director of Premier Plant Hire in London, and Daniel Koranteng, founder of Institute Africa. Their goal? To bring the quality, convenience, and efficiency of the UK’s plant hire industry to Ghana, where fast-growing demand and a dynamic construction sector are in need of modern support.

Daniel spent months in London, immersing himself in every aspect of the business, from deliveries and workshop operations to customer care and supplier relationships. This hands-on experience laid the foundation for replicating a successful model back home in Accra. It was never just about exporting equipment—it was about transferring knowledge, building relationships, and creating something sustainable.

The Grand Tour: A Tractor’s Epic Voyage

In early April 2025, the first visible sign of our expansion took off: our little blue tractor began its long journey from London. After being transported to Tilbury Docks, it boarded a cargo vessel that would take it on an incredible route across Europe and West Africa.

  • Casablanca
  • Cotonou
  • Lagos

And finally, on Friday, 25th April 2025, the tractor arrived at Tema, the port area of Accra, Ghana.

The Mission in Ghana

But this is more than just a logistics story. Premier Plant Hire & Institute Africa are collaborative in their mission:

  1. To provide accessible, reliable tool and plant hire to Ghanaian builders and contractors, empowering local businesses to scale quickly and affordably.
  2. To offer training and upskilling programs, helping to raise construction industry standards and improve safety and quality across the board.

It’s a model that blends commercial success with social impact.

Arrival and a New Chapter

With customs cleared, the tractor is now officially in Daniel’s capable hands. It’s already gearing up for its first jobs, symbolising not just a delivery, but the beginning of a movement. More
